Ladies and gentlemen - We have LIFT OFF!!! Everything has fallen into place. I now have the first run of The Work of Wool - A Montessori Album sitting in my dining room and I am excited to the point of exploding. I am so happy with the way it turned out.
The delivery was due at 1pm today so I rushed home in time to meet it. I arrived at 12:50 to find this!
Lucky I have a back door!
I was really nervous opening the boxes. I actually sat with one of them unopened beside me on the table whilst I had something to eat and worked up the courage to open it.
My worries were completely unfounded - they have turned out beautifully! They are also huge! I tried really hard to keep the number of pages down but even so there are 265 of them and each Album weighs just over a kilo! They are bigger than either my Biology or my History Albums! I have used a Canadian style binding which is a wire spiral enclosed in laminated cover-stock so you can open it flat to copy pictures, but it will still look beautiful on your shelf. And it really does look beautiful!
For me this is an incredibly emotional moment. This album has been my life for the last three years. I have spent between 8 and 10 hours per week working on it - that's between 1200 and 1500 hours in total! (This does not include the hours thinking about it between getting into bed at night and actually falling asleep.) I have bought books, tools and materials, joined clubs, attended courses and convened focus groups. I have tested and adjusted every single lesson, several times over.
Montessori Handwork has been my life.
After all this, I can confidently say that it will be useful, inspiring and, most importantly, doable for any educators. You don't need to be a teacher and you don't need to be Montessori minded to use it - you just have to care about bringing more handwork into the lives of children. You are going to love it!
Here are a few random pages - not quite the quality of Amazon's 'Look Inside' but hopefully enough to give you a flavour. Go Here to read chapter summaries and reviews.
Here's the fine print: you can purchase your copy of The Work Of Wool - A Montessori Handwork Album now by clicking here BUT I cannot guarantee it will be sent out to you until the official launch on 29th June. I will do my best, however, my husband is away and I am trying to be a good mum and a good teacher as well as get all of my reports written, and prepare for my fast approaching Handwork Workshop (in Boulder, CO in July - Soooo excited!!).
So, I am offering a 20% discount to subscribers of this blog those who purchase their copy before the official launch date. You will receive an email with a code to use at the checkout stage of purchasing which will be valid until the official launch on 29 June 2018.
I know some of you really need it before then - if this is the case, please email me as soon as you have purchased and I will make an extra special effort for you. This includes anyone who is attending the EAA SCC Workshop in July. If you would like a copy to bring with you, please order now and let me know to send it out quickly. I will not be able to bring many copies with me as my suitcase is full of wool!
